What are Assessments?
On
the day of assessments, we will have each child that is participating
in Minors or Majors run through a series of skill stations. Each station
will be run by a present or past San Rafael Little League board member
or coach, and they will be assessing the skill level of each child. The
goal of this exercise is to ensure that when we are going through the
draft process, we are doing our best to make the teams as equitable as
possible.
Minors
assessments take place from 1:00-2:30pm and Majors from 3:00-4:30pm.
If your child cannot make their division-based time slot due to other
commitments, it is fine for them to come to the other time slot.
There
will be four stations: hitting, pitching, infield and outfield. Please
bring all equipment such as glove, bat, helmet and water bottle. Cleats
or turf shoes are okay as we are on a turf field. Please plan for 45-60
minutes for your child to go through all the stations.
Division
drafts will take place the week after assessments and all players are
selected through a coach draft. You will be contacted by your child’s
coach shortly thereafter.
