Minors: This is a kid pitch league for 9-11 year-olds. Minors is an instructional division introducing kids to more competitive baseball. Minors is played at Davidson Middle School at the field in back of the school. Kids do all of the pitching, it's three outs per side, stealing is allowed and a five run limit is imposed on offense. Scores and standings are kept and there is a double elimination tournament at the end of the season with a league Champion declared. All teams make the tournament and seeding is based on regular season results. The home plate and base umpires are typically 12-14 year old kids, often getting their first experience umpiring games. All players must play at least two innings of infield per game. There is one 90-120 minute practice during the week and one on Sunday until games start in late March. Once games start, there is a midweek game and a Saturday game, and Sunday practice. It's possible that teams will have an additional practice during the week once games start. The season starts in late February or early March and runs until just before school gets out.
Minors teams are assembled from a managers’ draft. All players will attend an assessment in late January designed to assess their skills. In early February there is a competitive draft run by the Player Agent, where Minors division managers will take turns choosing players until all eligible players are on a team.
